Engage is the lead advocacy and training network for gallery education.

We support arts educators, organisations and artists to work together with communities in dynamic, open exchanges that give everyone the opportunity to learn and benefit from the arts.

Call for Trustees

Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, is seeking new trustees to join our established and dedicated Board in November 2017. The Board, which currently has 14 members, meets quarterly at meetings led by our chair, Lesley Butterworth.

 

Trustee Visual Artist / Arts Educator

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals who are practising visual artists or artist-educators.

Engage is the lead professional association in the field of gallery education, with about 900 members in the UK and abroad. A registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, Engage is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation and receives funding from Creative Scotland, the Arts Council of Wales and from a number of trusts and foundations.

 

The role of Engage trustees is to ensure that the organisation functions within the legal and financial requirements of a company and charitable organisation, and to be responsible for overall governance and strategic direction.

We are seeking experienced professionals with enthusiasm for and commitment to the visual arts, who are willing to use their experience and expertise to support Engage.

This position is unpaid but reasonable expenses incurred while carrying out the role will be reimbursed.

Trustee with corporate experience

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals who work in or have connections with the corporate sector with a knowledge of corporate social responsibility. An awareness of corporate philanthropy from the donor’s perspective would be advantageous
