ARMA was established in memory of the artist Alexandra Reinhardt who died in 2004 aged 43, having battled with a rare blood disorder and deafness throughout her life. You can learn more about Alexandra by visiting the Alexandra Reinhardt website here.
The Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award (ARMA) is an annual award, funded by the Max Reinhardt Charitable Trust, worth £15,000 and offers an artist or artists the opportunity to create an original work for a host venue, while generating ways for the artist and venue to interact with the local community.
Launched in 2005 ARMA has worked with several organisations, including Paintings in Hospitals and The Art Room.
engage has been delighted to manage the Award since 2012, and has since worked with mima, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art on a commission by Elpida Hadzi Vasileva, with Maria Zahle for New Walk Museum and Art Gallery in Leicester, and most recently with Anne Harild, for the Blucoat in Liverpool.
engage is looking forward to running the programme for a fourth year in 2016.
