Lucy Medhurst

Lucy is a senior professional based in Kent and with a lifelong career in the arts. An Art History and Italian graduate from the University of Sussex, Lucy worked for a time in the Mercury Gallery, Cork Street, before moving to Canterbury Cathedral as an apprentice in wall painting conservation. Following study in Italy and a freelance career, Lucy then moved into arts education. She has worked for an education business partnership and then as Head of Learning and Interim Director at Stour Valley Arts, a forest-based NPO. Lucy was the author of research on wellbeing which was published as Science Nature and Identity alongside an MA in Arts and Cultural Management, again at Sussex. 

Lucy took part in the first Engage Extend Leadership Programme and was a member of the Enquire research programme and Watch this Space action research initiative. Lucy then spent four and half years as a Strategic Manager for Artswork, the Bridge organisation for the South East, building partnerships and resources around wellbeing commissioning and digital futures and levering in resources to help improve outcomes for children and young people. Lucy is also a curator, conference programmer and leader with a passion for site-specific work and community co curation. She has recently become the Director of Ideas Test, the Creative People and Places initiative of Arts Council England in Swale and Medway. (Updated 2018)
