Critical Craft

How is craft currently being defined and discussed in the UK and internationally? What hierarchies - gender, class, age, ethnicity – exist in craft making and the concept of craft? How does gallery education use craft making as a critical tool? Are galleries and museums stepping into the gap left in formal education by the move away from craft skill?

The contributors to this issue on Critical Craft have responded to these questions and more, with reference to practices and challenges faced in different contexts.
