Resilience

This edition of the engage Journal tackles the issue and impact of resilience on the visual arts education sectors in the UK and internationally. The theme was selected by the Journal Editorial Advisory Board at a meeting that raised many questions. The Board agreed that the theme was current for UK policy makers, but how relevant was it to other colleagues working in the sector, to artists, gallery educators, curators, teachers or academics for example? Did resilience as a theme have resonance with colleagues outside the UK? Could we understand the word resilience without considering the politics of language? The response to the call for proposals was impressively diverse, as this Journal testifies, demonstrating that resilience is a topical and controversial theme.
