engage, The National Association for Gallery Education
Location: Working from home, with some travel to London required.
Contract: April 2017-March 2018
Fee: £5,000 (including VAT) plus £200 expenses
engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, wishes to appoint a fundraising consultant or consultants to work with the staff team to secure funding for research and activities in England in 2017-22. engage is the lead organisation for gallery education, with c.800 members in the UK and internationally across c.270 visual arts organisations. In 2011 engage worked with fundraising consultants who:
- Undertook a review of engage’s fundraising history
- Proposed a fundraising strategy and plan
- Developed a case for support for engage and for individual activities
- Researched trusts and foundations for engage to apply to
- Supported the engage team to apply for funding
From 2014-17 engage worked with a fundraising consultant on applications to trusts and foundations for engage activities and for core costs. As a result, support was secured for activities including: Children’s Art Week 2015-17, Generation ART (a touring exhibition of children and young peoples art), for engage conference 2015 and 2016 and for the Max Reinhardt Literacy Awards (MRLA). As a second-tier membership organisation, removed from direct delivery of activities to participants,engage experiences some challenges in securing support from trusts and foundations.
engage’s Board of Trustees include two fundraising specialists who offer advice in this area. A group of trustees and the Director have formed to explore corporate fundraising.
engage now seeks support from a consultant or consultants to:
- Refresh the case for support for engage and for individual activities
- Research trusts and foundations for engage activities
- Research corporate support for engage activities
- Support the engage team with funding applications

Interviews will take place in Bristol (tbc) on Thursday 13 April 2017. Applicants shortlisted for interview will be contacted by Friday 7 April 2017.
