engage North West Area Group Meeting

Wednesday 5th April 2017, 11am – 3pm

The Atkinson, Southport

MAKE/SHIFT – creative collaborations with SEN schools

engage members and regional colleagues* are invited to join North West Area Reps Catherine O’Donnell, Betty Ritchie and Hannah Gaunt for an Area Group Meeting at The Atkinson in Southport on 5th April, 11am – 3pm (arrivals from 10.30am).

Our spring 2017 meeting will focus on sharing strategies, barriers and opportunities for engaging with local schools supporting pupils with Special Education Needs.

Helen Thackray, Lifelong Learning Officer at The Atkinson will share learning from the ongoing START (Children & the Arts) activity with local SEN school partners. As part of this 3 year funded project, The Atkinson is also working with University of Kent to explore immersive environments for pupils with autism. Colleagues attending this meeting will have the chance to explore some of the creative approaches taken through a hands-on activity led by project artist Laura Pullig. Betty Ritchie will follow this with a presentation about the SEN schools engagement that has taken place as part of well-established Out of the Blue and Blue Room programmes at The Bluecoat, Liverpool.

The meeting will be a fantastic opportunity for all colleagues working in galleries, museums and education to catch up, network and share ideas and opportunities for successful collaborations with SEN partner schools and settings.

Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. Please inform us of any dietary requirements.

To book a place or request further information, contact NW Area Rep Hannah Gaunt on hannah.gaunt@riba.org
