Working together (revisiting SEN and Disabilities)

Welcome to Sharing Practice

With c.800 members in the UK and around the world, the Engage team is lucky to be in regular contact with colleagues working in gallery and visual arts education who are leading the way with fascinating and diverse practice in a great variety of areas.

In order to share this learning with the wider sector, and promote our members’ work, we invite our members to present examples of their practice that fit within a set theme. These case studies are available to both members and non-members alike.

Following on from our June 2018 Sharing Practice theme SEN and Disabilities (which you can explore here), we asked our members to consider how disability-led education projects and/or arts education programmes are integrating activities and programs across both non-disabled and disabled audiences.

In response, Liz Whitehead, Director of Fabrica, submitted a case study on Putting Ourselves in the Picture, an exhibition which positions creators with and without complex needs at its centre.
