engage at Tate Exchange 2017

An intensive professional development event for gallery and arts educators.

Apply here now!

Take time out from your daily life to reflect on your practice and career, to develop new ways of thinking and working. This peer-led professional development event in Tate’s new Switch House building represents an opportunity for mid-career or senior colleagues to work together over three intensive days to reflect on their practice, review recent research, learn about UK and international contexts and network.

The theme is exchange – see Tim Etchells’ poem on the Tate Exchange website.

Existing members of engage might recognise this format as that of the annual Summer School. The idea is that those attending can present or run a workshop for their peers.

• 19 March (7.00pm) – dinner (optional, £20)

• 20 & 21 March (10am – 6.00pm) – peer-led event at Tate Modern

• 21 March (4 - 6.00pm) – ‘journeys through gallery education’

• 22 March (10am – 6.00pm) – day of visits with Tate Exchange Associates (198 Contemporary Arts and Learning, Peckham Platform and South London Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.)

Cost

• Personal members: £150

• Organisational members: £230

• Non members: £300

This includes all entry costs, speakers, lunch on 20, 21 and 22 March, teas & coffees. It does not include accommodation, travel around London (max £12, Sunday and Wednesday only) or dinner.

Scotland bursaries

If you live in Scotland you are eligible to apply for one of two engage Scotland bursaries, covering the fee plus up to £350 expenses. If you would like to be considered please tick the box on the online application form. You do not need to be a member of engage to apply for a bursary place.

engage Scotland bursary places are supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.

We will let you know whether you have been successful or not by Friday 24 February 2017. Unsuccessful bursary applicants may then wish to self-fund. No further funding from other Creative Scotland funding programmes is available to attend Tate Exchange.

Journeys through gallery education

As part of the event there will be a facilitated public session on Tuesday 21 March, 4 - 6.00pm for members of the public to find out more about working in gallery education. We will be asking some of you to contribute to this by speaking briefly about your journeys into gallery education and some of the challenges you face, sharing practice or leading a surgery for example.

If you would like to volunteer please indicate on the application form.
