Following the success of Generation ART: Young Artists on Tour 2015-16, Engage is seeking support from the Arts Council England Strategic touring programme and other sources including trusts and foundations to run a more ambitious Generation ART touring programme in 2018-20, hosted by venues in England and Scotland. Engage and Engage Scotland anticipate exhibitions will take place in a maximum of three locations in England and one in Scotland. Any venue with an interest in showing a touring exhibition of children and young people’s art work may submit an expression of interest. Successful venues/organisations must demonstrate that: they are located in an area of low cultural engagement or with a lack of access to high quality visual art and/or are engaging with audiences new to the arts.

Successful venues/organisations will have a track record and demonstrable capacity to:

-Work with children and young people through engagement programmes

- Work with visual artists

- Present exhibitions and public engagement programmes particularly for audiences new to the arts

- Focus strategically on audience development with audiences new to the arts

- Support the Generation ART communications and marketing strategy

- Contribute to sharing professional practice and outcomes from the Generation ART programme with the arts and education sector

- Collect and analyse audience data

We are particularly keen that Generation ART is a catalyst for venues and organisations who are already growing their work with children and young people through strong education and community networks (for example in England through Cultural Education Partnerships and through work with the Bridge Organisations).

Venues may consider applying in partnership with other venues/organisations in a town/city/area to host Generation ART, for example, in the Generation ART pilot 2015-16, New Walk Museum and Art Gallery, Soft Touch Arts and the Sparks Arts for Children shared responsibility for hosting and programming Generation ART in Leicester.
