David Haley

David Haley is an ecological artist and Research Fellow in MIRIAD, Manchester Metropolitan University. He is the Director of the A&E [art & ecology] Research Unit and leader of the award winning MA Art as Environment programme. Haley is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, a member of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Peer Review College and is on the Editorial Boards of The Public Art & Urban Design Observatory and Music and Arts in Action (MAiA). In different media, current projects include Rivers from the Future, that critiques the values of the ‘new suburbia’ over freshwater; A Walk On The Wild Side, that considers Manchester as a living organism; The Writing On The Wall, a series of temporary poetic/ performance/artworks to interpret the signs of climate change; and Greenhouse Britain, with Helen Mayer Harrison and Newton Harrison to determine how we might ‘withdraw gracefully’ as the oceans rise.
