Jillian Barker

Jillian Barker has been working in arts education for over 25 years as a practitioner, policymaker and director of programmes in theatre, opera and the visual arts. She was Head of Barbican Education at the Barbican from 1998 to 2009 and Senior Education and Training Officer at Arts Council England (2005-2009). She is now Director of Education, Information and Access at the National Gallery – a cross-cutting job spanning all aspects of public engagement including education, digital, information, audiovisual and libraries. Her mission in the years ahead is to raise the profile of old master paintings and encourage learning and engagement.  (Updated 2012)
