Laura McVeigh

Laura McVeigh is a writer, social activist and campaigner. Her studies at Cambridge University and the University of London included work on issues of social identity, visual representation and cultural memory. She currently heads up communications, policy and development for national youth work charity, UK Youth (www.ukyouth.org). In 2006 Laura set up Film for Youth, a national film-making festival for young people. She has worked on many arts-related projects within the voluntary sector, including 2020Vision – a national youth photography programme and Art for Youth, an annual exhibition programme, which encourages and recognises young artistic talent and raises awareness of the charity’s work. Laura comments regularly in the press on youth and social policy issues. She is also Head of Communications for the Fabian Women’s Network – a dynamic networking organisation for women from politics, academia, the voluntary sector, arts, business and the media.
