Part foraging and plant identification, part mark-making and bookbinding – Bookbinding & Botanicals will inspire you to get back to nature and get creative, with lots of ideas on how to use a range of low-fi mark making techniques to create a bounty of beautiful books that can be used as nature journals, notebooks and/or sketchbooks.
This craft kit and video tutorial combo is suitable for children aged 8+, with assistance from an adult — a great family activity to do together in the summer holidays! Older children (11+) should be able to manage without assistance. And of course big kids i.e. adults are welcome to join in too.
Kit includes all tools & materials needed to make 3 books, a set of reusable botanical stamps and series of leaf-inspired decorative papers, plus a packet of wild flower seeds from Seeds of Hope Scotland. Video tutorials can be followed at your own pace and returned to again and again.
Funding from Engage has made it possible for me to donate 30 of these kits to deprived children in North Edinburgh, working in partnership with North Edinburgh Arts. Upon purchasing a kit there is the option to support this initiative by gifting a kit forward.
£30 for kit with tools, materials and video tutorials (includes first class postage within the UK)
This activity has been supported by Engage Scotland.
This event is open to the public.
