NEoN’s outreach team has put together a new creative pack for parents and children to create animated artworks together at home. Taking inspiration from previous NEoN workshops and past technologies, the pack explores historical methods and techniques that will bring your imagination to life.

Create:Move:Connect will feature fun activities such as flipbook making, shadow art and puppetry.

An offline version of this project has been specifically designed for young mothers and their children, who may not have access to a computer, to get creative together. However, NEoN invites any family wanting to get involved to enjoy the downloadable version.

The free pack will be available to download from the 29 June 2020 on NEoN’s website and a limited number of printed packs are being made available to Young Mothers living in Dundee.

NEoN (North East of North) aims to advance the understanding and accessibility of digital and technology driven art forms and to encourage high quality within the production of this medium. NEoN organises exhibitions, workshops, talks, conferences, live performances and public discussions, and has established itself as a platform to showcase national and international digital art forms. NEoN’s outreach programme works with many groups and communities to increase access to new digital work and to encourage the learning of new skills associated with today’s technology driven society.

Over the past months, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how essential creativity and the visual arts are for learning, connecting and wellbeing. NEoN has developed this project to explore animated art in an accessible format from home.

This activity has been supported by Engage Scotland.

This event is open to the public.
