Supported Places and Freelance Artist Bursaries

Engage Supported Places (UK & overseas delegates)

Two Engage ‘Supported Places’ are available for the annual Engage Conference 2019 to support colleagues who may otherwise be unable to attend. These places are subsidised by Engage and cost just £70 each. Application is open to all colleagues, including Engage members and non-members, based in the UK and overseas. Supported Places will be allocated after the closing deadline on Monday 23 September 2019. Priority will be given to Engage members, students, those who may otherwise be unable to attend, and those who have not received a bursary from Engage before. See below for how information on how to apply. 

Freelance Artist Bursaries (UK & overseas delegates)

Additionally, Engage are funding four Freelance Artist Bursaries this year, offering a free Conference ticket and £100 towards travel/accommodation. Application is open to Engage Personal Members who identify as freelance artists or artist educators, based in the UK and overseas. Freelance Artist Bursary places will be allocated after the closing deadline of 23 September. Priority will be given to those who have not attended Conference before, who may otherwise be unable to attend, and who have not received a bursary from Engage before.  

How to Apply 

To apply for an Engage Supported Place or a Freelance Artist Bursary, please send the following to Engage Operations Manager at operations@engage.org by 10:00 am on Monday 23 September 2019: 

  • A current CV (max 4 sides A4)  
  • A letter or email (max 1 side A4) explaining why the Conference is of interest to you, how attending would benefit your professional development and why a bursary would support your attendance
  • Please make sure you mark clearly in your email and application, which place you are applying for 

Please consider carefully which bursary you wish to apply for and note the deadlines as above. Applicants cannot apply for both. 

Bursary recipients will be expected to attend the whole Conference and write a short feedback report which will be published on the Engage website. Please note unsuccessful applicants will be offered Early Bird rates subsequent to the deadline. These bursary places are funded by Engage.  

Conference tickets include evening event on Tuesday 5 November & lunches/refreshments on 5 and 6 November 2019.
