Launched in 2022, Let’s Create Art is Engage’s annual campaign to shine a light on visual arts engagement and participation. We delivered a second iteration of the campaign between 17 November – 17 December 2023, with a focus on supporting and inspiring the next generation of artists, cultural workers, and creative thinkers. Through our website and social media platforms Engage continues to highlight the range of registered Let’s Create Art activities which are taking place until 29 February 2024.
Let’s Create Art 2023 recognised the crucial role artist educators, teachers and learning and participation specialists play in developing the creativity and confidence of children and young people. As arts subjects face increasing pressure, Let’s Create Art 2023 championed the innovative, vibrant and engaging activity across the UK lead by practitioners who are committed to removing barriers to participation and creating opportunities for young people to find their own creative pathways.
In addition to commonly understood visual arts activities such as painting, drawing and sculpture, Let’s Create Art 2023 activities included film, virtual reality, design, craft or socially engaged art practices.
Through a series of resources and sharing opportunities Let’s Create Art 2023 supported organisations and artists in delivering and evaluating impactful arts activities with children and young people. The annual campaign aims to highlight the impact of participatory art through best practice sharing and embedded evaluation. Whether you are an artist, gallery educator, teacher or young creative, you can join in with Let’s Create Art.
