Engage London Area Group meeting - Thursday 28 September 2017

Engage London Area Group Meeting

Thursday 28 September, 9:30am – 1:00pm

Wellcome Collection, 183 Euston Road

Exploring a philosophical approach

Engage members and regional colleagues are invited to join London Reps for an Area Group Meeting exploring Philosophy for Communities at the Wellcome Collection on Thursday 28 September, 9:30am – 1:00pm.

Interpret collections in a new way and take part in a philosophical enquiry, led by teacher and expert Lisa Naylor. Consider how this participant-led approach could be embedded within you own setting to deeply engage with a range of audiences helping them to interpret and explore collections, introduce challenging themes and link contemporary ideas to objects, artwork and exhibitions.

Philosophy for Communities (P4C) is a powerful educational approach which has been found through research studies to have cognitive and social benefits for people and communities. It is centred on philosophical enquiry, where a trained teacher encourages participants to think and reason as a group. Find out more at: www.sapere.org.uk

The meeting is an opportunity for all colleagues working in galleries, museums and education to catch up, network and help plan future events in the London.

Light refreshments will be provided.
