Join us for a day of practical activity exploring how art galleries and museums can be used as stimulus for creative writing and literacy. Past MaxLiteracy awardees, Manchester Art Gallery, Leeds Art Gallery and York Art Gallery will share their experiences and resources.

A free event suitable for creative writers, gallery and museum educators and teachers across the curriculum and at all key stages. Lunch will be provided. To reserve your place please email Gaby Lees, Gaby.lees@ymt.org.uk

Formerly known as the Max Reinhardt Literacy Awards, MaxLiteracy was initiated by the Max Reinhardt Charitable Trust and is run by Engage in partnership with the National Association for Writers in Education. Galleries, art museums and visual arts venues across England are invited to submit a proposal to host an Award, to support a creative writer to work with a school and a gallery/art museum/visual art venue. MaxLiteracy is a biennial programme and will run again in three selected venues in 2019, 2021 and 2023. The Awards are funded by the Max Reinhardt Charitable Trust and have been supported since 2016 by the Ernest Cook Trust.
